What is digital planning?

Digital planning is the process of using technology to help you manage your time, tasks, and goals. This can be done using a variety of apps and digital planner products that allow you to track your progress and keep on top of your commitments. When used effectively, digital planning can help you boost your productivity and achieve your goals.  Digital planning is just like a paper planner, but on your tablet and just like a paper planner, a digital planner also has endless variations and customization possibilities.

Before we jump into some of the benefits of digital planning, let’s talk about what you need to start digital planning.

  • Tablet:  a tablet is very useful for digital planning.  While you can digitally plan on a smart phone, the larger screens of a tablet are beneficial.

  • Digital planner:  A digital planner is a .pdf document that you’ll use inside of an application on your tablet.

  • An app:  There are quite a few options when it comes to apps.  All of these applications are PDF annotation applications.  My favorite is Goodnotes.  Here are a few others:  Notability, Noteshelf, Xodo, Nebo.  Not all of these apps may be available depending on whether you are using an iOS or Android tablet.

  • Stylus (optional):  While a stylus is absolutely necessary, it is immensely helpful for digital planning.  A stylus allows you to write directly on the screen of your tablet, as well as move objects, highlight text, and much more.

Here are few optional things I use as part of my digital planner setup:

  • Smart Keyboard:  I also use a smart keyboard along with my tablet for my digital planning.  I like writing directly on the screen of my tablet, but I also like the convenience of the keyboard as well.

  • Screen protector:  I have been using the Paperlike screen protector for a while now and I love it.  It provides just enough friction for my stylus and allows me to write effortlessly on my tablet.

  • Stylus cover: If you write a lot in your digital planning, like I do, a stylus cover or grip can help with adding a bit more comfort to your stylus.

Here are just a few of the benefits of digital planning:

Convenience

Digital planning is convenient because you can access your planner from anywhere at any time. If you have your tablet with you, you have your planner with you! With a digital planner you no longer have to carry around a bulky paper planner.

Improved Productivity

Digital planning can help you boost your productivity by keeping you organized and on track. When everything is laid out in front of you, it's easier to see what needs to be done and when it needs to be done by. This can help you better manage your time and energy so that you can get more done in less time.

Increased Accountability

When you use a digital planner, you are more likely to stick to your goals because you can track your progress easily. This increased accountability can motivate you to keep working towards your goals even when things get tough.

Customization

Digital planners have just as much, possibly even more, options for customization as paper planner.  Just like with paper planners, you can add digital embellishments to your digital planners to make your digital planner uniquely yours.  Additionally, you aren’t limited to the pages that come with your digital planner.  You can easily add additional pages or even remove pages that don’t need.  The customization possibilities are truly endless!

If you're looking for a way to boost your productivity and achieve your goals, consider using a digital planner. This type of planning is convenient, efficient, and accountable - perfect for busy people who want to make the most of their time!
